                HIRING WATER OPERATOR

Pennfield Charter Township is seeking a skilled and dedicated water utilities operator to join our water and sewer operations.

This position is responsible for operating and maintaining the Township’s water distribution system, ensuring a safe, high-quality water system in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  •          Maintenance of the water distribution system
  •          Assists in the installation, repairs, and flushing of water mains and lines
  •          Install  & repair water meters and radio read boxes
  •          Coordinates new taps, hook-ups, and shut-offs
  •          Must adhere to all safety procedures while operating equipment, handling           chemicals/hazardous materials, or working in dangerous situations
  •          Thorough understanding of collection and distribution system functions and parts, hydrant valves, and ancillary related equipment
  •          Ability to operate equipment and tools
  •          Ability to serve in an on-call capacity, respond to emergencies, and work a schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs demand
  •          Must live within a reasonable distance from the Township
  •          Must possess an excellent driving record  and must pass a drug test
  •          Ability to address customer complaints with professionalism and diplomacy
  •          Coordinates “MISS DIG” activities in locating and marking  water and sewer utilities
  •          S-3 and D-3 certifications from the State of Michigan is mandatory; the candidate shall obtain all necessary certifications required by the State of Michigan within 2 years of hire date.
