**Pay Range:** $54,000 – $62,500 (based on experience and qualifications)
**Position Type:** Full-Time (This is a full-time position
with a standard workday from Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and
occasional after-hours
call-ins.)
The City of Bangor is seeking a qualified and dedicated Assistant Director of Public Works to help lead the operations of the Department of Public Works. This position will play a vital role in supporting the Director and managing day-to-day functions, including water, sewer, streets, parks, and public infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:·
Assist in the planning, coordination, and
supervision of public works operations
and personnel.
· Support the Director in budgeting, project management, and maintenance planning.
· Oversee water and sewer system operations; respond to emergencies as needed.
· Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
· Communicate effectively with city officials, staff, and the public.
· Provide training, guidance, and supervision to DPW crew members.
· Help evaluate department procedures and recommend improvements.
· Reasonable knowledge of custodial and grounds maintenance activities, including those with use of hand tools, automotive, and power-driven equipment the ability to perform heavy manual labor with general mechanic knowledge for extended periods of time.
Minimum Qualifications:· 5 years of experience in public works, utilities, or a closely related field.
· Must be certified in water and sewer operations in Michigan or be able to obtain certification within a reasonable time frame.
· Ability to use word processing and database software at a modest level for accessing and recording data and correspondence.
· Ability to respond to emergency situations, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
· Strong knowledge of municipal infrastructure and maintenance practices.
· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Must be able to work in a variety of weather
conditions and respond to
emergency situations.
· Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:·
Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Public
Administration, Civil Engineering,
Construction Management, or a related field.
· Prior supervisory or management experience in a municipal public works setting.
· CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:· Pay Range: $54,000 – $62,500, commensurate with experience and certification.
