About the Position:
The City of Ludington is seeking an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent. The Ludington Wastewater Treatment Plant utilizes an activated sludge operating in the extended air mode and is currently staffed by four employees holding a range of licenses. Employees at the facility are represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).
The Superintendent is appointed by and reports directly to the City Manager. Under the Council-Manager system, Ludington’s 7-member City Council, along with the Mayor, provides leadership for policy, planning, and community development, while the City Manager oversees day-to-day operations.
This is a full-time position with a standard workday from Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and occasional after-hours call-ins. The starting salary is between $70,000 and $ 80,000, depending on qualifications and experience. A state of Michigan Class B License is required or the ability to obtain one.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Overseeing daily operations of the Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Supervising, training, and evaluating plant staff
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental regulations
- Preparing budgets, maintaining records, and reporting to the City Manager
