This position will;

  • Supervises staff; plans, prioritizes, and assigns tasks and projects; monitors work; develops staff skills and evaluates performance; provides technical guidance, assistance, and training; meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve workload and technical issues; develops work plans and assures required deadlines are met; reviews and verifies the accuracy and efficiency of work activities.
  • Oversees the management of the day-to-day administration of the Department, including financial health and resiliency, budget, capital projects, utility enterprises, ongoing maintenance, infrastructure stewardship and development, personnel and labor relations, and customer service activities.
  • Responsible for the supervision of all major repairs and additions to the distribution and sewer system, oversight of any complaints or reporting problems pertaining to the water quality or pressure ore related to sewer operation.
  • Directs the routine maintenance and oversight of all Campus Facilities, Campus Grounds, Parks & Cemetery ensuring smooth operations and a well-kempt appearance.
  • Ensures the financial well-being of the Department by establishing cost control measures and monitoring all fiscal operations of the Department.
  • Procures materials, schedules subcontractors, and completes dig safe permits to complete projects on schedule. Assists residents, contractors, utilities, and others with questions or issues relating to Public Works.
  • Develops, recommends, implements, and oversees the administration of Public Works policies and guidelines. Maintains current policy and practice with the organizational needs of the Township and with applicable Federal and State laws.
  • Directs winter snow and ice control operations on all Township-owned properties, sidewalks, and snow removal programs.
  • Assists in the development and preparation of department budgets.
  • Prepares all documents and filling required by all regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over the Township water and sewer system. Directs and monitors compliance with departmental rules and regulations, including safety rules, for compliance with the Township, County, State, and Federal regulations.


Requirements

  •  High school completion and Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or another related field.
  •  Possess and maintain a valid Michigan Driver’s License and be able to meet the Township’s driving standards and ability to obtain a Michigan Chauffeur’s License.
  • Must have, and retain, an S-2 or greater Michigan Department of Environmental Quality License
