Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated WWTP Operator to join our team. In this role, you
will assist in the operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment plant,
conduct routine tests, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with
safety and regulatory standards.
Supervision Received:
Under the general supervision of the Water/Wastewater Superintendent.
Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
• Operate wastewater treatment equipment on assigned shifts.
• Maintain motors, pumps, and related machinery; monitor charts, meters,
gauges, and chemical feeds.
• Collect samples of wastewater and sludges; conduct routine tests and record
results.
• Read and record data from monitoring equipment such as thermometers, flow
recorders, and pressure gauges.
• Operate raw sewage pumps, sludge pumps, and chemical feed pumps.
• Regulate chemicals added to wastewater treatment processes.
• Lubricate, service, and assist in the repair of plant equipment.
• Clean and maintain plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
• Perform related work as assigned by the Foreman.
Qualifications
Essential
Functions, Qualifications, and Skills:
• Reasonable knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment in wastewater
treatment plants.
• Basic understanding of laboratory analysis and wastewater treatment
procedures.
• Familiarity with public health and safety regulations related to wastewater
operations.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions; conduct tests and analyses
using laboratory equipment.
• Competence in compiling and maintaining accurate records and reports;
proficiency in mathematical computations.
• Effective teamwork skills with colleagues and the public.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to lift over 50 pounds, climb, crawl, and
operate equipment.
• Good vision, including color differentiation, and a keen sense of smell.
• High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in laboratory analysis or
related subjects preferred.
• Valid driver's license required.
