Working Foreman (Water and Sewer Utilities)

 

Candidates are expected to possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities in water and sewer operations.

The primary role performs a variety of administrative, skilled, technical, and maintenance work in the planning, reporting, construction, operation, repair, maintenance, sampling, and replacement of city water infrastructure and facilities, and is the Designated Water Operator in Charge (OIC) requiring State of Michigan S-3 and D-3 water licenses and wastewater D license.

Candidates for a leadership position are expected to possess the skills and abilities to assist the DPW Supervisor or designee with daily oversight and leadership of assigned staff and projects as directed. Assists with developing department budgets and long-range capital plans for repair or replacement of city facilities and systems.

·         Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and, supplemented by two (2) years post-secondary college or technical training in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field, and

·         Minimum of five (5) years of experience relating to the construction, repair and maintenance of water, sewer, street, or storm drainage systems including the operation of related maintenance equipment, or

·         Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience or three (3) years of assisting a supervisor/department head.

·         Must obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (Class B with air brakes and tanker endorsement) within three months of employment.

·         State of Michigan DEQ Drinking Water Operator Certification Level D3 (Treatment)

·         State of Michigan DEQ Drinking Water Operator Certification Level S3 (Distribution)

·         MDEQ Class D Wastewater Treatment Plant License or the ability to acquire within 1 year.

Pay range $26.09 to $31.34 (with water and sewer licenses)
