The City of Portland is seeking a Full time Maintenance Worker to operate light and heavy equipment and provide general and skilled labor in support of a wide range of public works maintenance and repair projects including streets and sidewalks, water and sewer systems, parks, and cemetery grounds maintenance and related work.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by vocational training in equipment or grounds maintenance and repair, construction or a related field.  Experience requirements include one or more years’ experience as a semi-skilled laborer in public works, grounds keeping or general maintenance. A valid Michigan Driver's License and the ability to earn a Michigan Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of hire are required. Ability to communicate effectively and to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to prepare, organize and maintain accurate records and reports. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other departments, vendors and the public. Ability to respond to emergencies at times other than standard business hours.


Compensation starts at $23.82/hour DOQ, plus an attractive benefit package.
