WRC Cross Connection Inspector I

Job Summary

Under direct supervision is responsible for conducting inspections and assessments of cross connections at commercial and residential properties, as well as implementing and maintaining WRC’s cross connection control program. Develops a strong understanding of the principles and practices of cross connection control, plumbing systems, treatment processes and water sampling. Keeps daily records of activities. Responds to and investigates water quality complaints according to policy and direction. Assists in the collection of water samples and performing field water analysis from various locations within the water distribution system, and wellhouses operated and maintained by WRC. Is responsible for safe work procedures. Duties may involve hazardous working conditions common to below ground and/or confined space. Utilizes current Countywide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Possess a high school diploma or have completed the state requirements for a GED certificate.

2. Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license. Out of Country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.

3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.

4. Successfully complete the six (6) month probationary period.
