Water Works Operator I
This position will maintain, repair, and operate a water supply system consisting of a 16 wells, miles of water main, elevated storage tank, and pressure iron filter plant to control and adjust water treatment equipment to provide continuous water supply to campus. Perform periodic maintenance on equipment to ensure proper operation of plant and wells. The position will also inspect equipment used for water production and perform routine and non-routine water sampling for lab testing and will maintain plant, well and infrastructure records to comply with MDEQ requirements.
Completion of a high
school education with coursework in chemistry and algebra; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience; Casual knowledge of water works
systems/equipment and their repair; Working knowledge of word processing,
spreadsheets, electronic work order, and /or web-based reporting; Possession
and maintenance of a State of Michigan Limited Treatment D-4 water
certification within 12 months of hire; Possession of a valid State of Michigan
operator's license; Must drive University vehicle to perform job duties of this
classification; Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds and occasional
lifting of over 75 pounds; Provides own hand tools.
